Breakaway Roping Horses

Arrow H Ranch: Building Up Breakaway

After much prayer and deliberation, Molly and Adam Hamilton moved across the country to develop a new niche within the roping field where all feel welcome. They landed in Shawnee, Oklahoma and established their vision through the creation of Arrow H Ranch. This young couple and their two sons are committed to providing an uplifting, encouraging environment for ropers of all ages and skill levels to come pursue their passions and forget the stress of the outside world.

While their beginner breakaway lessons and horse training services are perhaps the best-known aspects of the ranch, they also host jackpots for ropers and borrow formats from the team roping world to allow beginners to win some of the pot. Their commitment to grow the sport is apparent, as they work to make it more accessible and build a culture of fellowship and mutual support—a true Christ-like venture.

Their horsemanship is the result of years of trial and error and families with roots in the industry. Adam grew up riding cutting horses and found his love of roping later in life. Molly grew up in a team roping family and is no stranger to rope horses and the gift of a horse that positions you well to take a good shot. Molly knows if you can’t afford a top-notch horse you better know how to make one and has used this wisdom as a gift rather than a hindrance. While at a high school rodeo she discovered the sport of breakaway and found herself enamored with the unique challenges it presented.

Although she didn’t have much specialized guidance her first year trying it out, she later found mentors and attended a Roy Durfey school. These skills acquired through lots of listening and groundwork served her well, and while in college she was competitive as a team roper, breakaway roper and goat tyer. She has overcome the hurdles of returning to riding competitively after having children and continues to be a common name at events such as the Ruby Buckle roping. After filling her WPRA permit last year, she is eager to see what the future holds.
